Neptune Towers - Caravans to Empire Algol

As we all know, Fenriz is a renowned figure in the black metal scene, and many fans will already be aware of this side-project of his. But for those who don’t, you’re about to be enlightened.

Dubbed by Fenriz himself as “Deep Space Alien Astral Avant-garde Synth”, it is… well, it’s exactly that. Fenriz’ first two-track album, Caravans to Empire Algol, is a perfect blend of trance, psychedelic and ambient music. There are very few words that can really capture the magical music trip that is Neptune Towers. What I find the most interesting about the project is the brilliant way in which it fills your head with images and objects without the use of any form of lyrics. Caravans to Empire Algol, The Arrival at Empire Algol, First Communion. Mode: Direct, and To Cold Void Desolation are the names of all four tracks made by Fenriz. It’s as if he’s trying to form a wordless story. And boy, it works.
